Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services (MEMS) is a Little Rock-basedEmergency Medical Services (EMS) provider for much of central Arkansas. MEMS Special Operations Teams deploy in response to emergency situations that are unconventional in nature. Types of emergencies include, but are not limited to; hazardous materials (HAZMAT), search and rescue (SAR), swift water rescue (WRT), large scale special events and natural disasters. These emergencies are unconventional because they typically require specialized skill sets that exceed the capabilities of most traditional ALS or BLS rescue services.
They all provide MEMS and the communities that MEMS serves with the most efficient and effective methods necessary to provide care to those in need. More importantly, the Special Operations Division allows MEMS to effectively respond to a wide range of unique emergency situations without compromising MEMS’ ability to respond to the hundreds of more conventional 911 emergency calls that the MEMS communications division receives daily.
