MEMS is dedicated to providing the very best pre-hospital emergency and non-emergency medical care. To help ensure this, MEMS maintains partnered healthcare relationships with all hospitals in the central Arkansas area, making MEMS a key figure in serving a total residential population of approx. 500,000, as well as serving a vital role in healthcare throughout the region.Because they strive to treat every person as if one of their own family members were in need, MEMS has established a pattern and reputation of exceeding nationally accepted standards andregulations for quality and service. MEMS is certified by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS), signifying that MEMS has met the "gold standard" requirements as an emergency medical services provider.
Their teams of emergency professionals are not only dedicated to their job, but also to continuing education, certification and quality care. Extensive training and continuing education is required for all of MEMS medical personnel.
MEMS Special Operations Teams deploy in response to emergency situations that are unconventional in nature. Types of emergencies include, but are not limited to; hazardous materials (HAZMAT), search and rescue (SAR), swift water rescue (WRT), large scale special events and natural disasters. These emergencies are unconventional because they typically require specialized skill sets that exceed the capabilities of most traditional ALS or BLS rescue services.
They all provide MEMS and the communities that MEMS serves with the most efficient and effective methods necessary to provide care to those in need. More importantly, the Special Operations Division allows MEMS to effectively respond to a wide range of unique emergency situations without compromising MEMS’ ability to respond to the hundreds of more conventional 911 emergency calls that the MEMS communications division receives daily.

November Business of the Month

Boomerang Carwash

The vision of Cardinal Health is to be the healthcare industry leader in providing a diverse, inclusive work environment that reflects the marketplace and communities where we do business while maximizing our competitive advantage through innovation, profit and adaptability.
Cardinal Health got its start in 1971 when founder Robert D. Walter opened a small distribution center in Columbus, Ohio. In less than a decade, the then-named Cardinal Foods became a prominent regional food distributor until branching into pharmaceutical distribution in 1979. That was the year the company purchased a Zanesville, Ohio, drug distributor and became known as Cardinal Distribution. In 1983, Cardinal Health went public and, over the next decade, expanded its fast-growing pharmaceutical distribution business with the acquisition of more than a dozen U.S. drug distributors. By 1987, a year before selling its food distribution segment, Cardinal Health's pharmaceutical distribution business had become nearly twice the size of its food distribution business.
Over the next few years, Cardinal Health grew rapidly, and revenues exceeded $1 billion in 1991. By 1994, Cardinal Health had established itself as a leader in the drug distribution business with a nationwide presence and annual revenues of approximately $6 billion. Since then, Cardinal Health has evolved further, serving health care manufacturers and patient care providers around the world. The company's acquisitions included Pyxis Corp. in automated supply and pharmaceutical dispensing; Owen Healthcare in hospital pharmacy management; Medicine Shoppe International in pharmacy franchising; R.P. Scherer Corp. and Automated Liquid Packaging in drug delivery formulation and contract manufacturing; PCI Services, Inc., in pharmaceutical packaging; Allegiance Corp. in medical-surgical product manufacturing and distribution; Bergen Brunswig in medical-surgical distribution to hospitals and care continuum; and Bindley Western in pharmaceutical distribution.
Today, Cardinal Health provides an integrated offering of innovative products & services to help hospitals, pharmacies and other healthcare providers meet the growing challenges of a dynamic industry. Cardinal Health is a multinational health care industry services provider that applies vast resources, knowledge and expertise to help healthcare manufacturers and patient care providers meet their most pressing challenges, while providing better, safer delivery of care.
With our main office on Kiehl, we have four locations in the Sherwood and North Little Rock areas. In the fall, a brand new, state-of-the-art restaurant will be built on the northwest corner of Brockington and Highway 107. This restaurant will open as a 24-hour store with a dual lane drive-thru. Its contemporary décor will include the Razorbacks, Oaklawn Racetrack, Air Force, and the Little Rock city scape. Our company currently employs 190 hardworking people and the Brockington location will add another 70 jobs to the Sherwood community. Once construction begins, it will take approximately one hundred days to build. Owner-operator, Dean Di Michele, has been in Arkansas for six years after relocating from St. Louis, MO. With being in the McDonald’s business for thirty-five years, customer satisfaction is our number one goal. We are proud to serve and represent the community. As a member of the Moose Lodge and Immaculate Conception church, Dean gives back whenever possible. He is on the Ronald McDonald House Charities board which helps support the Ronald McDonald House of Central Arkansas at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. In addition to giving back, family is most important. McDonald’s also hosts a ‘McTeachers’ night for Sylvan Hills Elementary at their JFK location. Dean has two children, Nicole and Chad who both work for the company. Chad is a sophomore at UCA while Nicole is an aspiring owner-operator.

June Business of the Month

AT&T’s commitment to Arkansas is second to none. The company’s roots in this state can be traced as far back as 1879, when the first switchboard began operating with just 10 customers. Since that time, AT&T has become the largest provider of mobile voice and broadband service, high-speed Internet, and landline voice services in Arkansas. More than 2,500 Arkansans work for AT&T, and the company generates approximately $170 million in local and state taxes that support vital programs in our state. In just three years, AT&T has invested more than $500 million on its wireless and wired networks in Arkansas – and it’s still investing to meet customer needs.
The easiest way to get to know AT&T’s products and services is through its retail locations. AT&T has 27 company-owned stores around the state, and there are more than 100 authorized dealers.
AT&T’s award-winning U-verse is expanding in Arkansas. Whether through a TV, the Internet or on a mobile device, U-verse offers hundreds of channels, movies and video-on-demand services. AT&T U-verse was ranked “Highest in Residential Television Service Satisfaction in the North Central, South (which includes Arkansas) and West Regions,” according to the J.D. Power and Associates, 2010 Residential television Service Provider Satisfaction Study. U-verse is available in Sherwood and AT&T plans to bring the service to more Arkansas customers in the future.
AT&T is also focused on delivering the nation’s most advanced mobile broadband experience and has been continuously investing in its mobile broadband network in Arkansas.
AT&T believes in giving back as well. For the three-year period of 2008-2010, the AT&T Foundation, the company and its employees contributed more than $2.57 million to Arkansas nonprofit organizations and community-service entities. The AT&T Pioneers, an employee/retiree volunteer organization, has provided a number of volunteer services in Arkansas. The 100-year-old organization has built more than 2,000 ramps at the homes of disabled individuals in central Arkansas since 1987. The pioneers also sponsor a spaghetti supper for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, sew dolls for Arkansas Children’s Hospital and participate in many more activities. AT&T has also partnered with Gov. Mike Beebe, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the Arkansas State Police and the state Department of Education on a texting-and-driving campaign that reminds drivers that reading a text message isn’t worth causing an accident.

February 2011: First Security Bank

“Your Extra Specialties, Inc”

Your Extra Specialties, Inc is owned by Valerie Davis and has been a fixture in the Arkansas business community since 1984. What is YES? Valerie says that the short answer to that question is, “We Put your Name on Stu !” Philip, Valerie’s business partner adds, “The stu she is talking about is promotional products.”

Promotional products are little billboards that take your company’s name into the business world and keeps it in front of the people who buy what you sell.

There are at least a ½ million different kinds of promotional products. T-shirts imprinted with your company’s name and logos are promotional products. So are embroidered polo shirts and jackets that are worn by your employees. Those interesting little items that you give to prospective customers at a trade show…those are promotional products.

Has your bank ever give you a pen, travel mug or license plate with its name on them? They gave you promotional products. When your insurance or real estate agents send you a birthday card they have given you a promotional product.

Promotional products keep on advertising. That calendar you gave to your customer reminds her of what service you provide, where you’re located and how many ways she can get in touch with you. The same goes for those letter openers you handed out at the Sherwood Chamber Luncheon.

No matter what products you choose, you can put your advertising…your billboard…directly into the hands of the people who buy what you sell.

So, when you need that “stu ,” Valerie and Philip talk about…the right stuff to take you name into the business world…call them.
